For physical therapy, Eggertsville, NY residents near Main Street can leave the car at home. University Station, the Metro Rail’s northern terminal, sits at 3435 Main Street, just across the Buffalo line from Eggertsville’s southwest corner, and the Allen/Medical Campus station, about four minutes on foot from our clinic on Virginia Street, is seven stops down the line.
Eggertsville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the southwest corner of the Town of Amherst, pressed right up against the northeast corner of the City of Buffalo. Sheridan Drive marks its northern edge, Getzville and Brantwood roads separate it from Snyder on the east, and the Amherst town line forms the rest. Main Street crosses it, Eggert Road and Bailey Avenue run through it, and the whole CDP falls within the 14226 ZIP code.
Windermere, Sweet Home and Sacred Heart
Most of Eggertsville is in the Amherst Central School District. Windermere Boulevard Elementary is in the neighborhood, and Amherst Middle School and Amherst Central High School are a short drive east in Snyder. A section along the northern edge, near Sheridan Drive, belongs to the Sweet Home Central School District, whose high school is on Sweet Home Road; the Amherst Central streets guide is the quickest way to check a specific address. Eggertsville is also home to the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic high school on Main Street.
Between the two districts and Sacred Heart, an Eggertsville athlete might wear Tiger, Panther or Shark colors. After an ankle sprain, a hard landing or a shoulder that aches with every throw, the rehab follows a similar arc for all of them: calm the irritated area, rebuild strength, then retest the movements the sport demands before a full return.
Seven stops to physical therapy: Eggertsville, NY by Metro Rail
NFTA runs University Station as a Park and Ride, and ten bus routes meet the train there, including four that pass through or along Eggertsville:
- Routes 47 Wehrle and 48 Williamsville run along Main Street.
- Route 49 East Amherst uses Bailey Avenue and Sheridan Drive.
- Route 34 Niagara Falls Blvd follows Niagara Falls Boulevard, the town line on Eggertsville’s western side.
Whichever bus you start on, the last legs are the same: the train from University Station to Allen/Medical Campus, then a few blocks on foot to Virginia Street. Train and bus times change, so check NFTA’s schedules when you book.
The Eggert Road alternative
Driving takes about 15 minutes without traffic and covers roughly 7.6 miles: Eggert Road south, a short stretch of Kensington Avenue, then the Kensington Expressway (Route 33) toward downtown. Allow extra time at rush hour.
Ball fields, gardens and desk days
Dellwood Park and Sattler Field, on Ivyhurst Road, has baseball and softball diamonds, a paved path and a community garden. Softball asks a lot of the shoulder, and a season in the garden means long stretches of kneeling and bending, which can wear on the back and knees. For something gentler, ECO Park on Crosby Boulevard has a paved sidewalk, and Gateway Park on Kenmore Avenue, near University Station, has a paved path for a short daily walk.
Long days at a desk, a lab bench or a laptop tend to show up in the neck and upper back. If neck pain is following you home from work, we look at how your neck moves and responds to repeated movements, then give you a short routine for the hours you spend sitting.
A train ride from work, or from your surgeon
If you work on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, or had surgery there, the clinic is a short walk away. Early post-surgical rehab often means two or three visits a week, and a trip you already make keeps that schedule realistic. Your evaluation is done one-on-one by one of the two owners, Dr. Will Tso, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT or Dr. Ryan Mitchell, PT, DPT, and both rely on the McKenzie Method, which teaches you movements to manage symptoms on your own.
A physical therapist can’t stand in for a medical diagnosis: new weakness, numbness that keeps spreading, or pain after a hard fall should be checked by a doctor first.
Train or Eggert Road, the first step is the same: a call to (716) 332-4838 or a note through the appointment request form.
