Tonawanda Creek runs along Pendleton’s southern edge, and it doubles as the line between Niagara and Erie counties, so every drive from Pendleton to Buffalo begins by crossing it. That crossing is also the first leg of any trip to physical therapy for Pendleton, NY residents coming to us, because all of our care is delivered at a single Buffalo clinic, on Virginia Street. This page covers the route, the local fields and trails worth getting back to, and how to keep a plan of care on track from about 35 minutes away.
Pendleton Center, Wendelville and the Mapleton corner
Pendleton’s communities are hamlets: Pendleton Center on Campbell Boulevard (Route 270), Wendelville near Tonawanda Creek, Mapleton in the northwest corner, and Beach Ridge and Hoffman along the western line. Transit Road marks the eastern town line, the Erie Canal crosses the eastern part of town, and mailing addresses read Lockport (14094) or North Tonawanda (14120). Town Hall is at 6570 Campbell Boulevard.
Starpoint, nearly everywhere
The Starpoint Central School District covers nearly all of Pendleton, and the district’s campus on Mapleton Road is inside the town. A small northeastern corner falls in the Lockport City School District instead.
When a Starpoint athlete hurts a knee on a hard cut or a shoulder on the mound, the first goal is a clear picture of what is injured. If the answer is a torn ACL and surgery, our ACL rehab works from your surgeon’s protocol, phase by phase, until you are cleared to play.
Batting cages, tennis courts and the Fisk Road trail
Pendleton Town Park wraps around Town Hall: about 22 acres with baseball diamonds, batting cages, tennis courts, a playground and fitness equipment. In the eastern part of town, the Erie Canalway Trail follows the canal, including a paved section about four miles long and 10 feet wide that links Fisk Road in Pendleton with Stevens Street in Lockport. The Niagara County West Canal Marina and Park is in Pendleton too.
Swinging a bat or a racquet over and over loads the shoulder hard, and pain when you reach overhead or throw deserves a proper look (shoulder pain). If walking or riding a stretch of the canal trail is what you want back after a knee replacement, tell us at your first visit, and we will build the program toward that distance (knee replacement rehab).
Getting to physical therapy from Pendleton, NY by Campbell Boulevard
From the middle of town, the usual drive runs south on Campbell Boulevard, across Tonawanda Creek into Amherst, then onto the 990, which feeds the 290 and, after a short Thruway hop, the Kensington Expressway into Buffalo. Expect about 35 minutes without traffic, and more when the 290 and the Kensington back up. For the first visit, plan to arrive half an hour early to fill out forms, unless you finish the emailed online intake before leaving home.
Fitting visits around Starpoint’s calendar
Expect two or three visits weekly at the start of many plans of care. From Pendleton, the edges of the day tend to work: on Tuesdays through Fridays the schedule starts at 7 AM, and on Mondays through Thursdays it runs to 6:30 PM. The owners, both Doctors of Physical Therapy, lead your care, and you are seen one-on-one. The Medbridge GO app helps between visits as well: through remote therapeutic monitoring, your therapist sees which home exercises you completed and how they felt, and can change the program before your next drive down Campbell Boulevard.
To book from Pendleton, request a first visit online or call (716) 332-4838. If certain weekdays make the drive easier, say so and we will start there.
