Two Elma landmarks share Girdle Road: the Iroquois Central campus, where the high school is, and Elma Meadows, the Erie County golf course laid out along Buffalo Creek. Around them, the town spreads into hamlets with names of their own, including Elma Village and Elma Center on Bowen Road, Spring Brook on Seneca Street and Jamison Road, southeast of Elma Center. For physical therapy Elma NY residents can reach in about half an hour, Lake Erie Physical Therapy is up the 400 in Buffalo, at 531 Virginia Street.
Iroquois Central, with a Lancaster Central corner
Elma’s public schools belong to Iroquois Central, a district of about 84 square miles that spans parts of Elma, Marilla, Wales, Aurora, Lancaster and Bennington. Its main campus holds Iroquois High School along with the middle and intermediate schools, and Elma Primary is one of its three primary schools.
District lines don’t follow the town line exactly. Lancaster Central’s street list assigns some Elma-addressed homes, on parts of Clinton Street and Hall Road, to its schools. Mailing addresses vary too: Elma’s own ZIP is 14059, but some homes in the town carry East Aurora or Orchard Park addresses.
Sahlen’s turf, Creek Road fields and Elma Meadows fairways
Soccer players in Elma have both Sahlen’s Sports Park on Seneca Street, an indoor and outdoor soccer and training facility, and Creek Road Park, home to EMW Sports baseball, football and soccer. Cutting, landing and collisions are hard on knees and ankles. When an ACL tear needs surgery, our ACL rehab follows your surgeon’s protocol from the first weeks through the return to sport. If a knee pops and swells fast, or you can’t put weight on a leg, see a physician before you start therapy.
Golf at Elma Meadows means plenty of rotation and plenty of walking over rolling, elevated ground. If your back flares after a round, our spine care sorts out which movements calm it down and which stir it up, then builds your program from there.
Village Green Park on Bowen Road, next to the Elma Senior Center, has a walking track about a mile around. For hips and knees stiffened by arthritis, regular walking is often part of the plan, and we help you build up to it with strength work and pacing that suit your joints.
Physical therapy Elma NY commuters can fit around the 400
Starting near Elma Center, the no-traffic route uses Rice Road and Bowen Road to reach the Aurora Expressway (Route 400), follows a short stretch of the Thruway, then takes the 190 to the Elm Street exit and Elm up to Virginia Street. Plan on about half an hour with clear roads and more at rush hour. Care often begins with two or three visits a week, so a regular time slot you can keep is worth setting up at the start.
Not every Elma commute heads downtown; Moog’s headquarters, for one, is on Jamison Road. If your workday is in Elma, the clinic stays open until 6:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, so an after-work appointment saves you a round trip before your shift. If you commute into Buffalo, Tuesday through Friday visits begin at 7 AM.
The two owners, Dr. Ryan Mitchell, PT, DPT and Dr. Will Tso, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT, treat patients themselves, one at a time. Between visits, monitoring through the Medbridge GO app lets you log exercises and symptoms, so your program can change without an extra trip up the 400.
Pick a time that suits your drive by requesting an appointment or calling (716) 332-4838; with most plans, you can begin without a referral.
