Sanborn doesn’t fit inside one town. The hamlet around Saunders Settlement Road (Route 31) and Buffalo Street (Route 429) is split between the Town of Lewiston on the west and the Town of Cambria on the east, yet the Census counts it as one place and the post office gives it one ZIP code, 14132. The notes below cover physical therapy for Sanborn, NY households heading to our Buffalo clinic, about 22 road miles south.
A SUNY Niagara graduate on our team
SUNY Niagara’s campus sits on Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn, and it’s where Evan Johnston, PTA, earned his physical therapist assistant degree in 2023. Evan works under the supervision of our two owners, Dr. Will Tso, PT, DPT and Dr. Ryan Mitchell, PT, DPT, following the plan of care they set after a one-on-one evaluation. You can read about all three on our team page.
Sanborn, NY physical therapy starts on Ward Road
The quickest route in light traffic follows Buffalo Street south until it becomes Ward Road, then River Road and Delaware Street to a short stretch of the 290 and the 190 into Buffalo. That’s about 40 minutes with no delays. Rush hour on the 190 is another story, so pad the first trip.
Expect the early weeks of care to be the busiest, often two or three appointments a week. Doors open at 7 AM from Tuesday to Friday and at 8:30 AM on Mondays, and on every weekday but Friday we’re open until 6:30 PM, so a session can fit before an early class or after a day shift.
Route 59 from the SUNY Niagara campus
If you don’t drive, NFTA’s Route 59 runs from SUNY Niagara past the Niagara Falls Airport to the Niagara Falls Transit Center. There, Route 60, the Niagara Falls Express, continues across Grand Island to downtown Buffalo’s Metropolitan Transportation Center, and Metro Rail covers the last leg, ending at the Allen/Medical Campus station four minutes’ walk from the clinic. It’s a long ride with transfers, so check NFTA’s current schedules and leave a margin.
Falcons on the Lewiston side, Spartans on the Cambria side
The town line divides school districts, too. The Lewiston side of the hamlet is in the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District, which keeps its offices there at 5700 West Street; Niagara Wheatfield High School, home of the Falcons, is a short drive west on Saunders Settlement Road. Census records put the Cambria side, SUNY Niagara’s campus included, in the Starpoint Central School District, where the teams are the Spartans.
On either side, a young athlete’s injuries tend to look alike: rolled ankles, sore knees, a throwing shoulder that aches by midseason. Our sports physical therapy rebuilds the strength, control and step-by-step return that a team schedule demands.
Cleared paths and long farm days in Cambria
Cambria Town Park, on Upper Mountain Road with a Sanborn address, has ball diamonds, a skating rink when the weather allows and walking paths that are cleared of snow in winter. For knees and hips with arthritis, a cleared, predictable loop is a good place to rebuild walking tolerance, and we can show you how to progress it week by week.
The Town of Cambria describes itself in terms of farms, orchards, vineyards and grain fields. Lifting, bending and long hours on equipment can leave a back stiff and sore. A McKenzie Method assessment looks for the movements that ease your symptoms and turns them into exercises you can repeat between chores.
