Physical Therapy for Kenmore, Straight Down Delaware Avenue

Five road miles, nearly all on Delaware Avenue: one-on-one physical therapy in Buffalo for Kenmore residents, with early weekday hours.

Delaware Avenue is Kenmore’s main street, and it is also the road to our door. Lake Erie Physical Therapy’s only clinic sits on Virginia Street, in the blocks that connect Allentown to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The village is about five road miles away, almost all of them on Delaware (NY 384). That keeps physical therapy for Kenmore, NY residents easy to fit around a workday or a school week. We have no office in Kenmore: every visit takes place at our one Buffalo clinic, with the owner physical therapists who evaluate you.

One avenue, from the Municipal Building to Virginia Street

The Kenmore Municipal Building, which the village shares with the Town of Tonawanda, sits right on Delaware. From there you can drive south past Delaware Park and through the north side of Buffalo until you are a few blocks from the clinic, where street parking is nearby. Delaware is a city avenue rather than an expressway, so morning and late-afternoon commuter traffic can stretch the trip. Build in a little slack when you book.

You can leave the car at home, too. NFTA Metro’s Route 25 Delaware follows the same avenue, with a scheduled stop at Kenmore and Delaware avenues, then keeps heading down Delaware toward downtown. Step off at Virginia Street; the clinic is a short walk along Virginia.

A walkable village asks a lot of your knees and feet

Kenmore calls itself Buffalo’s first suburb, a place that grew up around the streetcar, and it is still easy to get around on foot. When the American Planning Association singled out the village in 2009, it pointed to sidewalks on both sides of every street.

A village like that depends on joints that cooperate. If the walk to the shops on Delaware has started to hurt, or you find yourself driving errands you used to walk, an evaluation can sort out why. We watch how you move, find what provokes the pain and rebuild your tolerance in stages, whether the trouble is knee pain or foot and ankle pain.

Winter changes the load. Clearing a driveway and a front walk means bending, twisting and lifting over and over in the cold. If your back objects afterward, the first step in our back pain and spine care is finding the positions and movements that ease your symptoms. Get medical care first if a fall on ice leaves a leg unable to hold your weight, or if your back pain arrives alongside groin numbness or new bladder or bowel trouble.

Ken-Ton schools, teams and the town rink

Students in the village attend the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, known as Ken-Ton, which also serves most of the surrounding town. The district lists three high schools: Kenmore East, Kenmore West and Kenmore Junior/Senior High, whose Delaware Road building the village describes as the oldest in the district. Village residents can also get the Town of Tonawanda’s resident access card, which lowers daily rates at Town facilities such as the Paddock Chevrolet Ice Arena.

When a sprained ankle, a sore throwing arm or a knee that gave way is keeping a player out, sports physical therapy works back toward full practice in measured steps. After a serious injury, the athlete’s physician makes the final call on clearance.

Physical therapy for Kenmore, NY, one on one with the owners

Care starts with a full one-on-one evaluation by one of the practice’s two co-owners. Both hold Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees. Of the two, it is Dr. Will Tso, PT, DPT, Cert. MDT who holds McKenzie certification, while Dr. Ryan Mitchell, PT, DPT leans on MDT before any other approach in his own treatment. The McKenzie Method teaches you movements and positions to manage symptoms yourself, and for some people, handling flare-ups at home trims the number of drives down Delaware.

Appointments begin as early as seven on Tuesday through Friday mornings, and from Monday to Thursday the doors don’t close until half past six, so a visit fits before work downtown or on the drive home up Delaware.

Ready when you are: dial (716) 332-4838, or leave your details on the appointment request page. With most plans, no referral is required to begin, so getting going from Kenmore can take a single phone call.

Common questions

Not sure about a referral, your coverage or your first visit? Call us and we will walk you through it.

Call (716) 332-4838
Which NFTA bus runs from Kenmore toward Virginia Street?

Route 25 Delaware. It travels Delaware Avenue through the village and keeps going down Delaware toward downtown Buffalo. Ride it to Virginia Street; from that stop the clinic is only a few blocks' walk.

Is the clinic in Kenmore itself?

No. The practice's only address is 531 Virginia Street, Suite 1, Buffalo, roughly five road miles south of the village. All evaluations and treatment visits take place there.

Do Kenmore residents need a doctor's referral for physical therapy?

Usually not, with most plans: the state's direct access law lets treatment continue without a referral until you hit whichever comes first of 30 days or 10 visits, though some insurers ask for a referral before paying. Auto accident claims under No-Fault and Workers' Compensation claims do require one, so call us with your plan details first.

Can Ken-Ton athletes book physical therapy around school and practice?

Usually. Early-morning and late-afternoon weekday slots leave room around classes and practice, and we can look at the schedule together when you call. Bring any notes from the athletic trainer or physician to the first visit.
