Springville calls itself the home of Glenn “Pop” Warner, and Springville High traces its sports tradition back to him. The school now lists nearly 20 interscholastic teams. When one of those Griffins gets hurt, or a parent, coach or grandparent needs care, here is what physical therapy for Springville, NY looks like at our Buffalo clinic.
Springville, NY physical therapy for Griffins and S.Y.I. players
Springville Academy became Erie County’s first high school in 1830, and the district that grew from it, Springville-Griffith Institute, now runs its high school on North Buffalo Street. Younger players come up through Springville Youth, Inc. (S.Y.I.), which runs baseball, softball and soccer for the village and the Town of Concord.
Our sports physical therapy looks at how an injury limits the specific demands of your sport, whether that’s sprinting to first, planting to shoot or throwing from the outfield. If a knee injury turns out to be a torn ACL that needs reconstruction, ACL rehab runs from prehab through return-to-sport testing, so the decision to play again rests on how the knee performs.
West Main Street to the 219
Route 219 passes just west of the village, about a mile out West Main Street (Route 39). From there the 219 carries you north for roughly 24 miles to the Thruway, a short stretch of the Thruway leads to the 190, and the 190 brings you into downtown Buffalo by way of Elm Street. Without traffic, plan on about 48 minutes; commuter traffic on the 219 and the 190 can add to that, so leave a cushion.
Surgery on the Medical Campus, rehab on Virginia Street
The clinic is on Virginia Street, close to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. If your orthopedic surgeon practices on the campus, a check-in with the surgeon and a session with us can sometimes happen on the same trip up from Springville. Post-surgical rehab follows your surgeon’s protocol and restrictions, from the first weeks of protected motion to rebuilding strength.
Cattaraugus Creek weekends
Scoby Dam Park, Erie County’s strip of land along Cattaraugus Creek off Scoby Hill Road, is known for fishing, and it also offers hiking, picnicking and informal kayak access. Slick creek banks and long hours standing in cold water can leave ankles and lower backs complaining. An ankle that keeps giving way, or a back that stiffens after every outing, is worth having evaluated rather than waiting out.
Planning around 48 minutes each way
Physical therapy commonly begins at two or three sessions a week and tapers from there. From Springville that’s a real commitment, so a few habits help:
- Stack trips. Pair visits with work downtown, shopping or medical appointments already on your calendar.
- Track your program at home. Remote therapeutic monitoring means the exercises you log at home reach your therapist, who can tweak them before you’re back, plus a monthly progress call.
- Ask about tapering early. Knowing when two or three weekly sessions might become one makes the drive easier to plan.
Springville sits in the southeastern part of the Town of Concord, which has its own page for the hamlets outside the village.
Springville families can reach the clinic at (716) 332-4838. Ask about early appointments if you’re driving up before work, or send a request online and tell us which days you’re in Buffalo.
